Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage therapy is becoming very popular in a number of spas and therapy clinics throughout the UK.  Hot stone massage therapy combines the benefits of warmth from the basalt stones (which are heated to a temperature between 125-135 degrees in water) with a massage session.

Firstly the therapist will go through a consultation, which includes questions on health and lifestyle. This will help to indicate if there are any reasons why a hot stone session would not be suitable. The client will be asked about their expectations from the session and any concerns or questions can be answered during this time.

The session consists of smooth basalt stones being positioned on the body in key areas (not directly onto the skin) but on top of a towel. The stones are tested regularly to ensure they are not too hot and do not lose too much heat. They will be changed regularly to maintain the correct temperature.

The stones used for massage are oiled with a combination of essential oils and carrier oil to help increase your sense of relaxation and calm. If required, cold stones can be used alternatively with the warm stones to give a more stimulating effect.

Hot Stone Therapy is used to maintain, optimise or support health and well being, and is a very pleasant way to help the body relax. This can be helpful as today's hectic lifestyles can result in short term or long-term stress for a variety of reasons.

Strenuous activity is best avoided immediately after the session and it's best to drink plenty of water to rid the body of any toxins that may be released during the appointment.

The session, including consultation will take approximately between one and a half and two hours including aftercare advice.
This therapy is not available on a mobile basis.
